Moments after last May 18’s storms it was obvious that more than a routine spring storm had come through our neighborhood. Power lines dangled from branches and were draped across streets, sidewalks and lawns. Branches and trees impeded travel down every sidewalk, street and alley. Within a very short time, ComEd trucks arrived and seemed to be on every street. The crews blocked off dangerous areas and worked around the clock for several days until power was restored. Throughout this time, the ComEd employees were professional, working steadily and cooperatively as city workers and residents cleared trees to allow the crews access to power lines.
