I am writing on behalf of more than 500 people who work at Wrigley Field asushers, crowd-control personnel and beer vendors. For more than 14 years these people have worked at Wrigley Field and have done an excellent job. Now because of a few individuals, whom I refer to as jerks, major changes have to be made (“New beer, ticket plan at Wrigley,” Sports, May 26).

These ushers and crowd-control people, along with a fine plainclothes police detail, have maintained a friendly, family atmosphere. There are no Gestapo-type people employed, and the fans are always given the benefit of the doubt.

It is time for the jerks to be weeded out and the great Cubs fans to be maintained. The beer vendors who have received all the blame are women and men who work a thankless job to put themselves through school or to provide extra money for their families.

Jerks, stay home! We as working people take great pride in ourselves.
