As a socially conscious raver, I object to the new curfew set by the “rave ordinance” and question the lack of public discussion regarding the bill. The law requires authorized raves to end at 2 a.m. This puts teenage drivers on the roads of Chicago and the suburbs, especially expressways, at the same time many bars let out. Before the bill, ravers could drive home around sunrise, when the roads are relatively clear of drunk drivers. If raves must end at 2 a.m., shouldn’t clubs, the 21-plus counterpart to raves, also bear this curfew?
