Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

I read with interest the May 30 letter to the editor from Whitney Welch, “Reading task.” Whitney has a long summer in which to read the required reading as well as books of her choice. Certainly her teacher isn’t expecting her to read dozens of books.

As she finishes the required reading, she should write her own book report, and when fall comes, she can refresh her memory.

What greater joy can a person experience than spending long, warm summer afternoons with a good book?

She should stop complaining, start reading and stop wasting her precious vacation time.
