Kenneth L. Becker, 60, of Mt. Prospect retired in 1998 after 35 years as an economist and financial planner, most recently with Del Webb Corp., Huntley. Mr. Becker died Saturday, June 3, in his home of complications from kidney cancer. Mr. Becker, a 1957 graduate of Luther North High School, Chicago, received a master’s degree in agricultural economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1963. He was an economist from 1963 to 1989 with International Minerals and Chemical Corp., formerly in Northbrook, and Chemetron Corp., formerly in Chicago, among other companies. Mr. Becker was a financial planner from 1989 to 1998 with Tucker Associates, Rosemont; the Aid Association for Lutherans in the northwest suburbs; and Del Webb. “He was loyal to family and friends,” said his wife of 39 years, Joan M. “He was a dedicated son, a loving father and husband. He particularly enjoyed his two beautiful granddaughters.” In addition to his wife and granddaughters, survivors include two daughters, Laura Morin and Linda; and his mother, Vera Becker. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Tuesday, when a service will begin in Immanuel Lutheran Church, 200 N. Plum Grove Rd., Palatine.
