Lois E. Gardiner, 78, a retired secretary who took a keen interest in the careers of her four sons, died Friday, June 2, in her Lombard home. Mrs. Gardiner, a former longtime resident of Clarendon Hills, worked for Best and Co. in Oak Brook. “She had her hands full raising four boys and she did a wonderful job,” said her son, Terry. “We got through the ’60s intact and all have careers, families, and it’s all to her credit.” Upon retirement in the mid-1980s, Mrs. Gardiner and her husband moved to Dowagiac, Mich., and shortly afterward chose the warmer climate of Naples, Fla. “She really enjoyed Florida, its beaches and vacation-like atmosphere,” her son said. Mrs. Gardiner was born and raised in Berwyn. Mrs. Gardiner is survived by her husband, Joseph; three other sons, Dennis, Don and Todd; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Services were held Monday.
