Blanche M. King, 93, a homemaker from Elmhurst who was known for her singing, died Sunday, June 4, in Oak Brook Health Care Center. “Everybody in the nursing home knew my mother by her singing. She was singing up to the day she died,” said her daughter Barbara Bogdajewicz. Born in Chicago, Mrs. King was raised on the West Side and for 20 years worked at Sloan Valve Co. on West Lake Street in Chicago. She and her husband, Ben, moved to Lighthouse Point, Fla., in 1969 and returned to Elmhurst in 1977. “They got lonesome for the grandkids,” her daughter said. An avid and skillful card player, Mrs. King also enjoyed fishing, especially at the family’s home in Phelps, Wis. “She was a wonderful and dedicated mother and grandmother,” her daughter said. Mrs. King is also survived by another daughter, Susan Ryan; a son, Ben Jr.; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Services will be at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday in Pedersen-Ryberg Mortuary, 435 N. York St., Elmhurst. Mass will follow at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 134 Arthur St., Elmhurst.
