James Olson Jr., who turned 15 on May 15, had aspirations to one day drive in the NASCAR circuit, but his dream was cut short Friday night when the truck he was racing hit a wall at the Lake Geneva Raceway. He was subsequently pronounced dead in Lakeland Medical Center in Wisconsin. The son of James and Connie Olson, Mr. Olson had just completed his freshman year at Woodstock High School, where he also competed in football, wrestling and tennis. In addition to his parents, Mr. Olson is survived by two sisters, Danielle and Heather; his paternal grandparents, Peter and Pat Olson; his maternal grandparents George and Charlotte Ekstrom; and his maternal great-grandmother, Ida Bozek. A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday in Schneider-Leucht-Merwin-Cooney Funeral Home, 1211 N. Seminary Ave., Woodstock.
