Online book shopping is quick and easy when you know exactly what you want. But when idle curiosity beckons, nothing beats gliding your fingers across the spines of tantalizing, mysterious volumes and thumbing through their dusty, forgotten pages. Nearly a half-million books will be offered for perusing at the 42nd annual Brandeis Used Book Sale, Saturday through June 18 at Old Orchard Shopping Center in Skokie. The average price for a tome is $3, so you can afford to be adventurous. Saturday’s opening preview event (6-10 p.m.) is $5; remaining days are free. 847-724-9715.
