William “Kaiser” F. Brier, 84, of Naperville, a longtime community volunteer who helped start several youth programs, died Wednesday, June 7, in the Illinois Veterans Home in LaSalle. Born in Milwaukee, Mr. Brier moved to Naperville in 1919. An Army veteran, he served in the European theater during World War II and was at the Battle of the Bulge. Later he worked for 35 years as a mail carrier for the Postal Service with a route in the heart of downtown Naperville. Among his many interests, Mr. Brier was active in the formative years of the Little League baseball program in Naperville. He was involved with the Naperville YMCA and helped develop a weight-training program for swimmers at North Central College. Mr. Brier was a member of Naperville VFW Post 3873. He is survived by a brother, Willard. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. Saturday in Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Home, 117 W. Van Buren St., Naperville.
