Joan Rivers used to spend her Sundays sitting in the family car while her doctor father made house calls.
Bob Vila’s dad taught him how to mix concrete.
Kathleen Kennedy Townsend’s greatest memory of her father, Bobby Kennedy, is how he liked to play with his children.
Rivers, Vila, Townsend and 97 other celebrities have put together their thoughts on their fathers, and Jonathan P. Decker has compiled them in “Great Dads: A Celebration of Fatherhood” (Adams Media Corp.).
The list of sons and daughters who contributed to the book includes athletes (Yogi Berra and Gail Devers, to name two), entertainment figures (cartoonist Chuck Jones, World Wrestling Federation Chairman Vince McMahon), politicians (Alan Simpson, J.C. Watts and more) and business leaders (Donald Trump, publisher Earl G. Graves Sr.).
Just in time for Father’s Day, “Great Dads” is priced at $10.95 and is available at bookstores.
