Ever wonder where the Web page designers of the future are coming from? It looks like some of them will be from Illinois.

Four groups of grade-school students from the state were among the 32 winners in a recent contest sponsored by ThinkQuest, an Internet-based education program that allows students and educators to work in teams to design Web pages.

ThinkQuest Junior, for students in 4th through 6th grades, drew more than 625 entries. Of Illinois’ four teams of winners, two were from the same school, Sherwood School in Highland Park. The Platinum Award (the highest prize) in the Interdisciplinary category was won by six Sherwood students for Building the Windy City (http://library.thinkquest.org/J002846). And six more Sherwood students took the Platinum in the Sports & Health category for Propelled by Pedals: A Fun Guide to Bikes (http://library.thinkquest.org/J002670). The other Illinois winners were six students from Sts. Peter and Paul in Naperville, who took the Gold Award (second place) in the Arts and Literature category for Millennium Mystery Madness (http://library.thinkquest.org/J002344), and two students from Malta Grade School and Plano Middle School, who got the Silver Award in the Interdisciplinary category for Life on an Illinois Farm (http://library.thinkquest.org/J001571).

Winners, their schools and their coaches receive monetary awards.
