Rick Morrissey’s June 4 column “Parents choke kids’ freedom to play their games” should be published in every newspaper in the country.
Something must be done very soon or our children will never have the opportunity to “play.” If change does not take place the only youngsters playing will be from wealthy families who have sent their children from one sports team after another so they can play on the “elite” team.
These are the teams that have to travel. Playing in the neighborhood is not good enough for those parents who believe their son or daughter is certainly in line for a Division I scholarship.
