Gladstone Builders of Naperville recently began clearing and grading the 30 acres south of 75th Street between Illinois Highway 53 and Greene Road for its Thornberry development. It will have 64 single-family homes, according to Mary Miller, a Woodridge planner.

The developer plans to maintain the natural properties of the land by preserving some of the wooded areas, Miller said.

According to Geri Van Enkevort, a vice president at Gladstone Builders, the semi-custom two-story homes will be about 3,200 square feet on lots of 10,000 square feet, and cost from $450,000 to $600,000. The development abuts the Greene Valley Forest Preserve and will install bike paths rather than sidewalks to link to the preserve’s bike path, Van Enkevort said.

On the 20 acres between the Thornberry development and Greene Road will be 14 apartment buildings developed by Bristol Chicago. The two- and three-story buildings will offer a total of 280 one- or two-bedroom apartments. Miller said the developer plans to break ground for the Prairie style buildings later this summer.
