David J. Schultz, 66, of Palatine, retired in 1996 as a materials manager in the shipping and receiving department of Electrodynamics Corp. in Rolling Meadows. Mr. Schultz, who was born in Appleton, Wis., died of respiratory failure Sunday, June 11, in Northwest Community Hospital, Arlington Heights. Mr. Schultz, a Navy veteran, received a bachelor’s degree in philosophy at Kalamazoo College in 1956. “He was the consummate good person,” said his cousin Patrick Mendes. “He was always there for family and friends, whenever they needed him. He never put himself first. He had a great sense of humor and a quiet sense of dignity. There was never an unkind word from him, never a complaint during his illness.” Survivors include his father, Charles W.; a sister, Deborah L.; and a brother, Richard. A visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Meadows Funeral Home, 3615 Kirchoff Rd., Rolling Meadows. A service will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
