Regarding the June 8 editorial “Doctor, do the right thing,” I’ve a second choice to offer Dr. John Hensala. Either give the four years of service that were promised in exchange for the education or pay back the Air Force. I highly doubt that $70,000 accurately reflects the cost of four years of medical school at Northwestern. But whatever the true cost during his schooling years, he can pay that back in full immediately–maybe even over four years–or he can begin serving his term. He has no excuses.
