Patrick Thomas King, 31, of Elmwood Park, a correctional officer with the Cook County Sheriff’s Department at the Cook County Jail in Chicago for more than eight years, died Tuesday, June 13, in Lutheran General Hospital, Park Ridge, of injuries sustained in a car accident in Rosemont. “He was athletic,” said his father, Robert King. “He was helpful to everyone. He had a sense of humor that was out of this world. He was dependable. He was a great son.” His brother Kevin said, “He was a great father. He was always there to give a helping hand when he had time. He was a hard worker.” Mr. King was born in Chicago. Other survivors include his wife, Amy; a son, Ryan Patrick; his mother, Judy; and a brother, Robert E. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday in M.J. Suerth Funeral Home, 6754 N. Northwest Highway, Chicago. Services will be at 9:15 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home, followed by a mass at 10 a.m. in St. Monica Catholic Church, Foster and Nottingham Avenues, Chicago.
