Gene E. Smith, 59, a forklift operator for Dominick’s Finer Foods, died Monday, June 19, in his Lombard home. Born in Fayetteville, Tenn., Mr. Smith was a 23-year employee of the food retailer and worked in its Northlake warehouse. He was a Lombard resident for the past 20 years. Survivors include a daughter, Lorraine Winkler; a son, Raymond; a brother, Richard; a sister, Betty Matson; and eight grandchildren. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until services at 8 p.m. Thursday in Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.
