James E. Goeb, 57, of Morristown, Tenn., formerly a 30-year resident of Streamwood, retired in 1989 after 20 years as a Streamwood police officer. Mr. Goeb served in the Air Force Strategic Air Command from 1959 to 1963. He served briefly in Vietnam. “Jim was a fine employee,” said Dave Barrows, commander in the Sheriff’s Department. “He used his police experience to be a very good process server.” His wife, Lynda, said: “He cared very much for his country, for other people and for doing the right thing. He was very devoted to his family and friends. He was there if you needed him. He enjoyed every moment of his retirement. He retired to a quiet place where he met the kindest people.” Other survivors include daughters Tracy Ramsdell-Ray and Deborah; a son, James; brothers Joseph and Jerome; and a grandson. A memorial visitation will be from 5 to 6 p.m. Friday, when a memorial service will begin, in Williams-Woodward Funeral Home, 820 Pine St., West Chicago.
