Howard Hansen, 81, of Ft. Myers, Fla., and Arlington Heights, retired in 1982 after 14 years as owner of two former Muriel Mundywomen’s specialty clothing shops in Downers Grove and Mt. Prospect. Mr. Hansen was previously a finance officer with U.S. Steel Corp., Chicago, from 1955 to 1968. Mr. Hansen, who was born in Marshall, Minn., died Tuesday, June 20. Mr. Hansen received a bachelor’s degree in business administration at the University of Minnesota in 1941.”He was a very kind person, to myself and to his children,” said his wife, Jean F. “He was a very driving and determined person. He was from a little town in Minnesota. He was determined to go to school. He put himself through school and graduated cum laude. That was important to him.” Other survivors include a son, Robert D.; a daughter, Barbara J. Schroeder; and five grandchildren. A memorial service will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday in First Presbyterian Church of Arlington Heights, 302 N. Dunton Ave., Arlington Heights.
