Americans eagerly snap up European luxury items. Now they can get bicycles to match the clothes, accessories, luggage and cars.

Besides several automobile lines, upscale fashion houses such as Trussardi and Hermes have added their names to some classic bicycles by encrusting them with leather, while Neil Barrett, who formerly designed the Prada Sport line, dreamed up a sleek and urbane bike for Samsonite to match his new line of clothes.

“These bikes aren’t aimed at hard-core cyclists,” notes Garrett Lai, senior editor at Bicycling magazine. Their target: people who own and admire these posh clothes or cars, and have an interest in bicycles. And though these products are not big names in the bicycling community, the makers say these bikes are well-designed and crafted.
