A 29-year-old local man was treated at Sherman Hospital in Elgin and released early Monday for bruises to the face he received during a robbery about 2:30 a.m. Monday in the 3000 block of Wakefield Drive, police said. The victim said a 20-year-old drinking companion punched him in the mouth while demanding money outside the apartment building. The victim eventually turned over his wallet, which contained about $150, police said. Two females, possibly juveniles, were also identified by police as possible accomplices in the robbery. The male assailant tossed the wallet back to the victim after removing the money, police said.
