Geneva and St. Charles staff recently presented a plan to aldermen for an intergovernmental agreement for road improvements near the new Meijer store at Illinois Highway 38 and Randall Road scheduled to open in late August.
Mark Koenen, St. Charles public works director, told the Geneva committee of the whole that the main concern is safety issues resulting from traffic changes at the intersection. Improvements to the roadways are scheduled to provide temporary traffic signals and right turns only going in and out on Randall Road, as well as lane widening and other projects.
Geneva’s Public Works Director Tom Talsma estimated Geneva’s potential costs to be $73,000 because future property developers as well as St. Charles and Meijer would all contribute to the costs.
