Electronic Data Systems Corp., one of the world’s leading computer services providers, Thursday said it had won up to a total of $2.8 billion in multiyear contracts in separate deals with Britain’s Rolls-Royce PLC and two Australian banks.
EDS said the larger deal was a $2.1 billion, 12-year technology services contract from aerospace, defense marine and energy company Rolls-Royce.
The second deal, worth as much as $700 million over seven years, is for EDS to help manage the integration of technology services and e-business capabilities of the merger of two Australian banks, Commonwealth Bank of Australia and Colonial Limited.
With Rolls-Royce, EDS said, the new deal builds on a contract signed with Rolls-Royce’s aerospace business in 1996 that was later expanded to include the British company’s industrial business and Indianapolis-based operations.
EDS already provides information technology services to Rolls-Royce in Britain and North America and oversees the British company’s infrastructure, network, systems and applications, and end-user support.
