New Lenox plan commissioners this week confirmed the end of a long-running legal battle when they recommended approving plans for the final phases of the Wildwood Club Estates subdivision.
Development of the subdivision was delayed by a dispute among developers, homeowners and village officials over a proposed recreational site.
Under the terms of the May settlement, 4 acres at Gear Drive and Joliet Highway will be turned over to the village for use as a park site, and the developer will extend Central Avenue and Joliet Highway.
Another subdivision plan recommended for approval was the third unit of Laraway Ridge, which would add 71 single-family homes to the subdivision at Nelson and Laraway Roads.
A decision on a request to allow all-day care at the Kaleidoscope Preschool on North Cedar Road was postponed until July 24.
