What a brilliant idea–pay teachers based on the performance of their students. Not only could this be a great program for paying teachers but for many other professionals.
If a doctor treats a patient and the patient dies, then the doctor should not get paid.
If a police officer patrols a neighborhood, but a criminal commits a crime, then the police officer should not get paid.
And if a newspaper editor writes an editorial that oversimplifies a complex philosophical, economic and social problem and attempts to disseminate it to his or her readers as a well thought-out piece of journalism, then the newspaper editor should not get paid. In that case, more than a few writers at the Tribune would be broke.
