Jerry A. Smid, 89, of Arlington Heights, formerly of Chicago, was a retired longtime foundry worker at the former Crane Foundry in Chicago. After retirement, Mr. Smid was a part-time manager in the catalog department of Sears Roebuck and Co., Chicago, for several years. Mr. Smid, a Chicago native, died Wednesday, July 12, in ManorCare Health Services, Arlington Heights. “We were married for 66 years,” said his wife, Ann. “That says a lot.” Other survivors include a daughter, Sharon Danko; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday, when a service will begin in Glueckert Funeral Home, 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights, followed by a graveside service at Bohemian National Cemetery, 5255 N. Pulaski Rd., Chicago.
