If a large group of doctors had elected to stop providing services to Medicare patients because of inadequate payment, the Tribune would vilify them as a greedy cartel.

Yet when large managed-care organizations withdraw from Medicare for the same reason, the Tribune races to their defense. If health-care providers have to make do with less, then so should large insurance companies and their highly paid executives.
