A 25-year-old Aurora man was in federal custody Tuesday after Aurora police received a tip that he planned to rob a west side bank.
Derrick Dimitrus Chaney of the 3300 block of Allspice Court was charged with attempted bank robbery. He was arrested by police detectives and FBI agents before 7 a.m. at an apartment complex parking lot next to Aurora National Bank on the 300 block of Old Indian Trail Road.
An 18-year-old man with Chaney was released without being charged.
