Lorraine M. Kampert, 82, a lifelong resident of Barrington, was a homemaker. For 10 years until her retirement in 1983, she was a clerk for the former Illinois Bell Telephone Co. in Chicago. Mrs. Kampert, a Chicago native, died Wednesday, Aug. 23, at the Governors Park Nursing Home in Barrington. “In 1951, my father [Robert K. Sr.] was recalled to the Air Force,” said her daughter Karen Unkelhaeuser. “He was flying in a plane to England with 52 men. The plane exploded off the coast of Ireland. My mother was 33. She never remarried. She raised four children by herself. She was a strong, upstanding woman.” Survivors include another daughter, Kathy Fredin; sons Robert K. Jr. and James A.; brothers Herman and Otto Maicke; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A graveside service will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday in Evergreen Cemetery, 610 Dundee Ave., Barrington.
