Charles George, 98, formerly of Lyons and Clarendon Hills, died Saturday, Sept. 9, in King Bruwaert House in Burr Ridge. Born in Sicily, Italy, Mr. George was a 47-year employee of AT&T, where he worked in several supervisory positions while the company was still Western Electric in Cicero. Mr. George was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, a former trustee of the Clarendon Hills Fire Department, an adviser for Boy Scout Troop 79 and a first-aid instructor during World War II. He also was a union representative for the Communication Workers of America. Mr. George was a resident of Lyons for 25 years and Clarendon Hills for the same number of years. Survivors include a son, Charles; a daughter, Rosemary Jack; a sister, Ninfa Arany; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Services were held Tuesday.
