Edward G. Schmidt, of Springfield, MO, died Monday, Sept. 18, 2000 after a long illness precipitated by a stroke. He was born on Sept. 25, 1910 in Chicago. Surviving are his daughter, Nancy Hill of Columbia, SC and his son, Alan Schmidt of Madison, WI: five grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Mary V. Schmidt, his wife of 50 years, preceded him in death. Mr. Schmidt was employed by Crane Company prior to his retirement. Memorial contributions can be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
