The Dr. Wen Ho Lee espionage case has caught deserving attention from all the media, including your editorials. No one could believe that this outrageous violation of human and civil rights could occur in this land of freedom. It is even more unbelievable that this order of putting shackles and cuffs on Dr. Lee was given by the highest official of the Justice Department, namely Janet Reno.
We have heard many times of police brutality, which is applied to the suspects so to extract their confession. This treatment of Dr. Lee is a different face of the same brutality, this time from our highest law enforcement official.
Reno should apologize and resign for embarrassing the nation before the world.
