David Phillip Broude, age 86, of Northbrook, passed away suddenly Oct. 3 after a lingering illness, devoted husband and best friend of Evelyn, nee Hickson, and the late Rose, nee Solomon; loving father of Franklyn, Alexander (Maria) and Sandy Britton; cherished and proud grandfather of Jennifer, Robert and Marianne; adored “Gampy” to great-grandchildren, David, Emily and Elissa; fond brother of Rabbi Samuel (Judith), Bernard (Martha) and the late Leo, Jerome, Rita Marvin, Mildred Aragon and Elaine Krupnick; caring uncle and devoted friend of many. Founding member of Congregation Shaare Tikvah. Proprietor for over 50 years of Miss Mayfield chain of retail shops. David will be remembered for his warm personality, his great love of music, books, crossword puzzles, intellectual discourse and sports, excelling in handball, a city and state champion of singles and doubles tournaments.
