Paul Jacob Miller, born August 14, 1920 in Park Ridge, IL, died Monday, October 2, 2000 in North Port, FL, beloved father of Christopher (Laura) Miller of North Port, FL and Gary Robert (Claire) Miller of Baton Rouge, LA; brother of John (Anne) Miller of Sarasota, FL; grandfather of three and great-grandfather of six. Mr. Miller was preceded in death by his wife Constance, nee Bryant; and his parents Ruth, nee Waterfall and Arthur Siegrist Miller. Mr. Miller was raised in Downers Grove, IL and graduated from Downers Grove (North) High School in 1938. From 1942-1945 he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps, 90th Bomb Group (Jolly Rogers). Mr. Miller graduated from Louisiana State University in 1949 with a degree in petroleum engineering. He spent his entire working career in the oil industry where he was responsible for building oil refineries around the world for Chevron/Gulf Oil. His corporate assignments carried him to Kuwait, Angola, Venezuela, Ecuador, Spain and the Philippines, plus Louisiana and Texas. Fluent in several languages, he was “a true student of world geography,” said his son, Christopher. “My father loved to travel and had quite a sense of adventure,” he said.
