Nancy Ferguson, 68, a real estate agent and a sister of Gov. George Ryan, died Wednesday, Oct. 4, in her Naperville home. Mrs. Ferguson was adopted by the Ryan family in 1947 after the death of her widowed father, Harry Schrey. Schrey was a close friend of the governor’s parents. “Our family will miss her terribly,” Ryan said in a news release. “We are comforted by the many happy memories of growing up together and raising our families. She was devoted to her family and she was a good sister to my siblings and me.” Mrs. Ferguson graduated from Stevens College in Columbia, Mo., and married Robert Ferguson in 1960. She had a real estate business in Naperville until her recent retirement. In addition to her husband and brother, other survivors include a daughter, Amy; two sons, Robert II and Thomas; and a brother, Harry Schrey. Funeral arrangements were pending.
