Walter “Wally” Vernon Slack, age 75, of Glenview, formerly of Northbrook, beloved father of Don and Linda. Earned a Purple Heart serving in the 414th Infantry, WWII from 1943-45. Received a BA in Journalism from the University of Colorado in 1950. Retired from Sidney Clayton & Assoc., where he had been an Advertising Copywriter for almost 40 years. He was strong supporter of environmental, animal/wildlife, and democratic causes. This gentle, caring man will be sadly missed by his children and those who knew him. Memorial service 3 p.m. Sunday, October 8, 2000 at the American Legion Hall in Northbrook, 847-564-9558
