Victor H. Schwall, 75, a former member of the Chicago Cardinals football team that won the NFL championship in 1947, died Saturday, Oct. 14, in Bethany Terrace Nursing Center, Morton Grove, after a stroke. Raised in the Portage Park area of Chicago, Mr. Schwall played football at Schurz High School and Northwestern University. Around 1943 Mr. Schwall went into the U.S. Navy but did not serve overseas, his wife, Joan, said. When he returned from service, Mr. Schwall played with the Cardinals, spending more than four years with the team. Mr. Schwall was inducted into the Chicago Sports Hall of Fame. After football, Mr. Schwall was a liquor salesman. Other survivors include a daughter, Donna Dedering; two stepdaughters, Melissa Richards and Judith Gallois; and four grandchildren. Services have been held.
