Steve Chapman’s “You can put a fork in this presidential campaign” column (Commentary, Oct. 8) sounds as if he wants all Republicans to lay down and concede. To have said that the presidential race was over after only one debate was ludicrous.
If Mr. Chapman is a Republican who supports George W. Bush, then he must be a fair-weather Bears and Cubs fan as well.
Americans want a president who will tell the truth and get things done, not a blinded-by-ambition politician who will say anything to get elected.
Do you really think the public wants another four years of lies–not exaggerations–more scandal and division? We sure don’t, and neither does our next president, George W. Bush.
