Harvard School District 50 board members this week reviewed the annual fall housing report, which shows a 6.6 percent increase in the student population, to 2,268.
A total of 141 new students enrolled this year, the largest increase since 1989, which saw the addition of 123 students.
The schools recorded slight increases most of the last decade.
“One year does not make a trend,” board member Ron Burlingame said at Monday’s meeting. “I don’t think we’re going down. But I don’t think the increase will continue like that.”
“This is a spike for us,” Supt. Randy Gross said. “If we get two or three years of these numbers, the district will be in trouble in terms of room.”
