Donna N. Calderone, 61, of Des Plaines, retired in 1998 after 40 years as a bookkeeper. Mrs. Calderone, who was born in Oak Park, died Wednesday, Oct. 18, in Holy Family Medical Center in Des Plaines. Mrs. Calderone was a volunteer for the Meals on Wheels program of First Congregational Church, Des Plaines; for Center of Concern, a Park Ridge social service agency; and for Holy Family Medical Center. “She was a wonderful person, very kind and giving,” said her son, William J. “She was very outgoing. She was fun to be around. Whenever she walked into a room she brought joy. She was upbeat, caring and positive. People who met her never forgot her.” Other survivors include a brother, Gerald Nix. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Oehler Funeral Home, 555 Lee St., Des Plaines. A service will begin at 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home.
