Commonwealth Edison did a poor job forecasting demand and not enough preventive maintenance on its power-transmission system, according to the latest in a series of state-ordered consultant reports about the utility’s ability to supply northern Illinois with electricity.
The report, released Friday by the state, says that ComEd did not follow its own procedures for maintenance.
The reports by Liberty Consulting Group of Quentin, Pa., were ordered by the Illinois Commerce Commission after a series of wide-ranging power outages in summer 1999.
ComEd officials could not be reached Friday for comment on the report.
