Give me a break. Skip Bayless should never be allowed to use the words “Michael Jordan” in print again. His Wednesday column was ridiculous.
Jerry Krause an egomaniac? Probably, but his ego is dwarfed by Jordan’s the same way Krause dwarfs Jordan’s belt size. The idea that Jordan should have been handed Krause’s job is ludicrous. Did the Yankees hand the team over to Babe Ruth when he retired? No. Just because a guy is a good bricklayer doesn’t make him an architect.
If Jordan had the teammates he wanted during Krause’s tenure, he wouldn’t have six rings right now. It is in Jordan’s ego’s best interest that the Bulls fail. If the Bulls continued to win championships, His Airness’ legacy could be slightly diminished. He would just be one in the long line of great Bulls players, albeit the best, who were on championship teams.
But if the Bulls got Grant Hill and won two or three championships, people might say, “Wow, Jerry Krause really knows what he is doing. Maybe it wasn’t just Jordan after all.” We know “Spotlight Mike” wouldn’t want people to say that.
