Let me get this straight. Parents take a taxi from O’Hare International Airport to their home and leave a 3-year-old child sleeping in the cab (Metro, Oct. 26). The cab driver innocently drives off, then gets cited by the police as if the incident was his fault. The parents are held blameless for their own stupidity.
This is a symptom of a society gone mad in its headlong rush to absolve any client or customer of any blame when it comes to common sense and personal responsibility, and blame an owner or operator of the business instead. Score another victory for lawyers, a runaway bureaucracy and its idiotic rules.
