The time has come when terms of the House of Representatives in both the federal and state governments should be extended to four years. Both the federal and state Constitutions were written at a time when it was a real sacrifice in both money and time for a citizen to be elected to the houses. Now it requires a great sacrifice in time, effort and money to be elected–and it is only for two years. Representatives never stop running for office. To encourage greater participation and to receive a greater reward for such a Herculean effort, the terms should be extended to four years.
