Rockwell spinoff: Electronics manufacturer Rockwell International stock jumped 6 percent Friday after it announced plans to spin off its avionics and communications division as a stand-alone public company. The planned spinoff, which would leave Rockwell with its automation unit, is expected by the second quarter of 2001. The move should streamline operations in each division, the company said. The company will remain headquartered in Milwaukee.
