William Schewe, 85, of Elgin retired in 1985 after 25 years as owner and operator of the former Bill’s Auto Sales, Elgin, where he sold used cars. Mr. Schewe died Thursday, Dec. 14, in Asta Care Center, Elgin. “He was a good father to five kids and a good grandfather to 10 grandchildren,” said his son Duane. “He was always a good provider and a good family man.” Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Margaret; two more sons, Leo and Don; two daughters, Sharon Price and Shirley McElhattan; a sister, Laura Fleenor; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin.
