John J. Sweeney, in Las Vegas, on January 2, at age 78, beloved husband of Marjorie for 50 years; loving father of Sue and Jack; dear brother of Timothy and Margaret; and grandfather of John, Shannon, Kathleen and Matthew. A native of Chicago who moved to San Francisco in 1968 and then to Las Vegas in 1977 where he retired. He was a pioneer in the airline industry, with a 36 year career at TWA after serving in the Army Air Corp during WWII. He was a member of the World Trade Club in San Francisco and a former president of SKAL. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 5, from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., Las Vegas. A memorial will be said Saturday, January 6 at 11 a.m. at St. Viators Catholic Church, Las Vegas.
