Michael Manley Minard, 46, of Union Pier, MI, formerly of Merrillville, IN, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001 at St. Anthony Hospital, Michigan City, IN, born Dec. 17, 1954 in Gary, the son of Manley and Mattie Frazier Minard. Graduated from Merrillville High School in 1973 and attended Rice University and Valparaiso University. He had been an animal rights activist, lover of animals and contributor to the Humane Society. Survivors include his mother, Mattie Minard of Chesterton, IN; sister, Terry (Harold) Howie, of Valparaiso; one niece and one nephew Brett and Matthew Howie of Valparaiso; friend, Chuck Krcmaric of Porter, IN; his dog Seven and three cats, Mona, Mark and Dune; he was preceded in death by his father, Manley Minard in 1993. Following cremation at Angelcrest Crematory, a Memorial Service Saturday, 2 p.m. at Moeller Funeral Home, Valparaiso 219-462-0535. Visitation 1 hour prior to service.
