Did you ever take a good, long look at your immediate envronment and consider how the landscape you inhabit affects your place in the world? Artist Janet Pihlblad has, and she turns her observations into art installations that use organic matter to examine our relationship with nature. Her latest site-specific work, “A History of Verdure,” opens Sunday at Evanston Art Center, 2603 Sheridan Rd. Evanston. The opening reception is from 2 to 4 p.m., preceded by a gallery talk with the artist from 1 to 2 p.m. Pihlblad’s installation is a compliment to the Center’s other current exhibit, “The Memory of Place,” which explores three other contemporary artists’ approaches to landscape.
